Our Political Leaders!

Abraham Lincoln once stated a doctrine for successful democracy and leadership ...

"To the people, for the people, by the people"

In Pakistan, the doctrine of successful leaders is:

"Throw the people, far from the people, buy the people"

And that is a fact!. I have seen and read Pakistan's politics to confirm it today what my teacher said.

wisely said and so true.

lolsssss

Have you read MY FEUDAL LORD? Same things are mentioned there.

Not only in Pakistan but in the entire Muslim world, you'll find the oligarcy, dictatorship, Talibanesque, Feudalism, etcetera. There're just three Muslim countries in which democracy prevails namely Turkey, Algeria & malaysia.
Military junta has cost Pakistan to lose half of its territory but still we're following the same path.

Reza: yeah

Zenia: good to see you back here.

Raheel: i have not read My Feudal Lord. Heard a lot about it though. Maybe my teacher took it from the book and told me.

Salman: Democracy cant work in Pakistan. Its the military rule that can work in Pakistan only. As far as Bangladesh is concerned i think Bhutto , Shiekh Mujeeb and all those incharge were the culprits.

There're many prerequisites of democracy. I avow that we lack almost all of them. I'm mentioning a few,
1. Fuedal system
2. Lack of political awareness among the populace
3. No freedom of speech
4. Role of military in our politics.
5. no internal democracy in the political parties.

But apart from all these a democratic government is far better than the military junta. The military interventions have given us nothing. In the time of Ayub Khan, the Bangalis' sense of deprivement flared up which resulted in the separation of Bengal during the rule of another dictator, Yahya Khan. Dictator Zia gave us flood of Afghan refuges & religious extremism. He destroyed the whole country & economy. & tell me what Mr Mushraf has given this deprived nation. Unemployment, illiteracy, political unrest, sense of deprivemnt among the small provinces, military invastion on Balochistan (Alas! We're now killing our own people but who cares). He looks very good when parroting the mantra of ENLIGHTENED MODERATION & RIGHTS OF WOMEN.

But still if you say that only military rule can work here. Then I can't do anything else.

Some people (esp. the religious scholars) say that democracy doesn't suit the attitude of Moslims. Don't they know anything apart from memorisating the Holy Quran. Look at the Surah Shura, consult others while making decision. We're against the regime of Bannu Umaids & Banu Abass, just because they were tyrants & dictators.

To me democracy is the best form of government & the adage of Abrahim Lincoln is valid in this part of the world as well.
PS: fahad your blog is too bulky. It takes ages to open. Make it a bit lighter.

Salman good point...i will answer your questions in my new post soon InshaAllah.

Democracy is the way to without a doubt but how many chances have the "civilian" governments had to establish democracy in Pakistan and what have they achieved? You point to the military intervention but never to the reasons that led to that intervention. Would you rather have seen Mr. Sharif in power the way he has running the country, I won't. I know this system isn't very fair too but it's better than the last one. It's about the lesser of the two evils for me.

Yes the civilian government flunk in stablishing a true democratic rule in the country. Military government came as a result of this. The military government have failed s well. They have ruled our country for more than half of the period but havn't delivered anything worthy to be mentioned in this space. They've cost us half of our country, three of the tributories of Indus, religious extremism, millions of Afghan refuges, drug and weed.

Mr Musharaf, have been ruling our country for more than 6 years with all the power. He has got the support of the American government and the world community. He has a puppit PM & a crew of sycopants. He has Sharif Uddin Pirzada to legitimize his dictatorship. Unable to deliver. The abominable staus quo prevails & the institutions of the state are crumbled. He has lost the credibility which he once enjoyed. The history won't forget him as he's not any different than his ilk.

BB,NS both looted country twice and made your country a begger to the World Bank and IMF , B. and S.Muj. both of them never gave up their democratic rule on their respective areas for the sake of Pakistan.
BB and NS are still alive and they will come back to take power from Musharraf. At least Musharraf has fought against terrorism within the country. Religious extremism is due to those religious scholars who say what you said in some comments of yours. Millions of Afghan refugees are given by Late Zia ,so Musharraf should be kept clean from those 3 allegations of yours. Late Zia had to support Afghanistan to fight Russia because Russia wanted a warm port so its possible next target was Pakistan.

So i would say current setup is million times better than your previous ones. Although pure democracy is the way to go but right now its not for pakistan because both BB and NS will come again to loot the country.
