Linux Red Hat 9.0 Installed!

I installed Red Hat 9.0 today. First installation of an opensource OS! I m quite happy with windows but let see what Red Hat has to offer. I m sure there will be no development environment like Visual Studio in Red Hat.

Definitely there cant be anything in open-source as compared to Visual Studio ! :)

You didnt mention my name in Credits of RH9.0 installation :P

Hey ppl ! listen !! Installation Media and Installation Guide was provided by me (Yahya) ! , and haaan , you didnt even mention the difficulties faced in installation :P like making Paritions, how to make Linux working and all tht stuff

So, is it as good as they say it is. I guess looks and feels like windows eh?

I'm gonne have to come and check it out at ur place ;)

Well if you wanna use .net framwork 1.x then you have to install mono and then you can use x-develop, an open sourse IDE to start making applications. Its not as good as VS but it will do a good job. http://www.omnicore.com , is the site , i think. For more on this :

Yahya gave me technical details regarding how to install linux.
I had to go and buy Partition Magic 8.0 in warm weather. I made partitions and then installed Linux in such a time in night when voltage was getting up and down. Thankfully computer dint restart and Linux was successfully installed. Thanks Yahya for your help.

Yeah Razz you can come and check it in my place.

Lemme check the link Zeeshan. Thanks for it.

As for me, I found Linux's tools for partition resizing such as parted much better than Partition Magic. Sometimes PM has given me problems. Maybe its because I had an old version of PM. I resized a Windows parition with parted in Linux when I tripple booted my machine to boot Windows 2000, Windows 2003 Server and Fedora Core 3. Good blog, keep it up.

New version of Partition Magic is great and is very user friendly as well. I think new version will not let you down. Thanks for the app.

Enjoyed a lot! »
