The tagline i put again is temporary and will change depending on what guys nad girls want.

I know my design wont get selected...because there are pretty damn good designers in my batch :)..yeah but i am more than delighted to give my contributions to my batch! :)

Last days in University

Me and my whole batch in university are starting to celebrate the last days in the university. As every day passes, we are going more closer to the termination of our Graduation life.

Anyways, enuff of that, we are designing logos and creating styles to be printed on the T-Shirts that our Computer Engg. department girls and guys were wear. Every graphic guru is putting forward their designs and voting is currently being going on. The best design will be selected and will be published on 140 T-Shirts. :)

Strange day!

I worked hard for VLSI (Very Large Scale Integration) class, first time i created the programs well before the time. I wanted to show my efforts to the sir today. But in Karachi anything can happen. In night at 3, light went off! and i can never sleep when there is no light. It never came till 7 in the morning. I dont know when i actually slept but i got up at 10 in the morning today ...WTF just because of light i missed my class for which i waited a lot. I then went to the university and to my suprise , my friends told me that sir has not taken the class, he is busy in some work. I was so gutted but then eventually i relaxed after hearing the great news.

Okay thats it for the morning. Later me and my 15 friends gathered in university and we all went to Kaybees to take the treat from our three friends whom birthdays were observed in 40 day offs we had. My restaurant food never wind up if i dont eat prawns. I ate Prawns , Chicken Shashlik , Chilic Chicken , Chicken Handi with my friends. Yeah the bill was not that high as we expected but who cares, i was not the sponser.

Yeah just one week left now. Final Year project is in full swing. Digital Signal Processing and Parallel Processing are the two tough subjects we have that i need to give time too. Plus lotsa assignments and other reports that i have to make and just one week left. Time is running so quickly. Have to attend my friend brother's marriage, that will eat up some time too.

I think sometimes maybe somehow we can control the time, but as soon as i decide that i will do all the work on time, i somehow find myself trailing again with time.

Oh God help me...

Pathan using a Top-Down Approach

Well if you travel in Karachi's Mini bus, or walk on the road, you will see many pathans here and there. Well its hard for me to differentiate whether they are pathan or afghani but who cares , they both look alike . Anyways , yeah whenever you are going and if you see a beautiful girl here and there , the things you are bound to see in sorroundings are 3 or 4 pathans staring and scanning her from top to bottom without blinking an eye. Same goes for Mini bus. It seems like they are very hungry :S...rarely a pathan wont look at you if you are beautiful. If a pathan doesnot look at you, than it can also mean you are not beautiful :S

Even the girls in Burqah are not safe. Its a fact that i noticed while i was walking on the road. There was a girl wearing a burqah and walking infront of me with her back facing me. She was some distance ahead of me. Five or Six Pathan with Beards on their faces and hats as well (giving an indication to me of a Maulvi) were coming in opposite direction i.e their faces were towards me and her.

I dont know what happened inside me but suddenly a thought came into my mind, hey Fahad..notice those pathans..cmon man notice them....I started noticing the eyes of all of them. Their eyes were totally glued to the girl and when they passed the girl , nearly 3/4 of the heads turned in the direction of the girl. I was speechless :|..dont know what to say next...

Message to all pathan readers : This is not meant to hurt your feelings but this is just the experience that i have gone through with and thought i should share with blog fellows.

Argentina has always been a great side but they are also the world's most quarelling one. Whenever they go out of the world cup , they could not seem to contain their emotion and passion within themselves. Just as they did it in 2002 when they lost to England, and when they lost out to Sweden and now in 2006 they repeated their acts against Germany. They just dont accept their defeat. After the match, argies fought with germans even though they lost the real game. See the argentine player kicking German defender Martensacker. Haha Argies losers!

Yessss! Germans did it. They showed they are professionals of the game and kicked out the Argies of the world cup. What made it more impressive for Germany that they came back from behind to win. Argentina took the lead in the start of the 2nd half and what seemed like enough for Argentina to go through, but resilient Germans scored in the 2nd half (80th min) through Klose (10 World cup goals for him) and came back and after that there was only one winner. Germany won on penalties 4-2. Ayala and Cambiasso's penalty stopped by the GK Lehmann to take germany to the semi finals of the world cup. What i really like about the germans is their spirit to fight, their resilience , their professionalism and i think that they will beat Brazil in the world cup final to take the revenge of the 2002 world cup final.

For the Italians who narrowly went past Australia with a last minute controversial penalty. It was a great match till 93mins and in the 94th min Spanish Refree gave a penalty to the Italians which seemed questionable. It was a dive from the Italian player ..aargh cant remember his name right now but the every football lover was shocked with the refree's decision.

Anyways Italians through now. What a world cup...England, Germany, Argentina, Italy, Portugal and brazil and spain/france will join soon in last 8.

You expect people diving in the swimming pool to be clean. People do take bath before swimming , i am not talking about that. What i am p*ssed about is the fact that some people dont take time out of their precious busy schedules to remove the hairs even of their "Arm Pit". Its such a sick feeling to even look at that. All kinds of filters, chlorine and other stuffs are there to remove the finest of impurities but if you are in water with your hairs on your special places, how can you expect the water to be clean.

I just dont know how people can even live with this. Not only guys are involved in that but Uncles , The Husbands , all kind of people who just know how to swim but dont care about the integrity of the water. Dont care about others.

I dont know how they going to love others if they dont even love their bodies. If they dont clean the hairs of the arm pit , how do you expect them to clean their X-Area hairs!

Such a sad feeling , Islam lies so much stress on purity. Even Namaaz is not acceptable if hairs of arm pit and X-areas are not removed.

Yess! Deutschland beat Swedes 2-0 in the Pre Quater final. It looked like a close encounter on paper but Germans tore them apart. I love this german side, they are playing some real good soccer. Argentina and Mexico will clash today as well, but its Germans who are on the roll and they will kick the Argies out of the world cup in the Quater Finals!

Time has changed!

When i was in school , i was kinda short as compared to the other guys ( in height). They seemed to reach their peak heights early...and i was lagging according to them. Most of the fellows called me "piddi" because of the height i had. Well then times started changing...school to college and then college to university....i amazingly by the grace of Almighty increased the height a lot. I attained average height 5'6 till second year of university i think.People say height dont increase after that. But i dint stop there..i kept exercizing, stretching myself.

I had a firm believe that i can increase more. I kept on hanging on the rod and taking myself up...did it a number of times...and then amazingly i increased 2 inches more. In the Final Year of my graduation life i have reached 5'8 (MashaAllah) which is equal to Angelina Jolie ;)

Whenever i meet my school friends, they seems to get a bit amazed what has happened with me. However i wont stop here...i will keep exercizing and stretching inshaAllah ...i want to make my body work harder n harder!!!.. Adriana Lima here i come ( 5'10 ).

Who let the Dogs out in Karachi???

Anywhere you go in the city, even if there are no people there, you will certainly find dogs :S..huh! what did you say ?...Yeah i said dogs. Normal Dogs, Abnormal dogs, German Sheperd, Bulldog e.t.c ..whatever type of dogs..but they are there to be seen. Found under the car, behind the tree, in the garden , outside the shop, crossing the road. Certainly they will make their presence felt by abruptly showing themselves or by barking suddenly.

When they bite someone , then obviously they are taken care of but still they have their freedom in the metropolitan city of Karachi. Even if humans dont , dogs do have.

I remember i was reading a newspaper after some sort of voilence which errupted in the city. I read a news in almost neglected column of Jang newspaper stating " Dog Burned Alive by the angry protesters " . After that i couldnt stop my laughter burst!

Gulminha Slapping an Unknown Guy!

Its from the Living on the Edge show in which the girl Gulminha whatever slapped an unknown guy who was possibly with her gf. The girl was daring enough to do so but she simply humiliated the guy in the public. Guy was actually caught unawares and off-guard. I dont think this should be allowed in any way..i mean you just cant simply humiliate others for the sake of entertainment and money. Whats the guy's fault in that?..he had everything to lose whereas the girl had nothing to lose. She got 2000 rs. and the guy got the humiliation in public infront of his (possibly) gf. I was p*ssed off that guy could have been anyone...the girl got a great acknowledgement.

I was thinking what should be the perfect reply of the guy who got slapped for nothing and i got one....hmm...French kiss! ...lol..that would have really turned the tide towards the guy.... :)

Yeah because if you wanna prove you have got something in you, do it with yourself not on others..do something what David Blaine does, do what Armstrong does , do what Venessa Williams does!

All you desperate husbands and aged people whose cylinders have ran out of steam there, beware of the imitated viagra out there in the market. Indian Manufacturer has been caught in United Kingdom for producing imitated viagra which looks like real but it doesnt work the same way and has its side effects as well and for selling it to all parts of world in great number. The real company Pfizer which develops Viagra is astonished to see that the imitated viagra looks exactly the same and its impossible for anyone to find out which is the real one. Since the indian manufacturer has sold it to all parts of world , Pfizer has denied to take all the Viagra back and to test and to seperate the real from the copied one.

I came to know about it when my doc. brother and other doctor was discussing about it. They seem to have checked up the patient having some problems in Aga Khan Hospital. Later there discussion somehow from that patient came to Sildenafil (medical name of Viagra) and i came to know about the above. So beware you all, if you have used Viagra , you should take yourself to the nearby hospital because if in UK , it is impossible for to differentiate the real and imitated, how do you expect Pakistani shops to give you the real one! :)

Swimming, i love to do!

My love is now divided..yes b/w swimming and soccer :P whoelse you people were thinkin. The greater ratio of course is of soccer but now swimming is getting huge importance in my life. As i am still learning, i just dont want to come out of water. I want to spend hours and hours in swimming pool but unfortunately i cannot happen as the girls timing start right after the guys.

I went today for swimming again at 2. I went to AKU Hospital. There met my doc bro with whom i entered in the Sports Complex of AKU. We changed in the locker room. There in the swimming pool i met some senior doctors with whom my doc bro works. It always nice to meet doctors...i love to talk to them..they are so good from heart..they always meet you courteously. Anyways i am still unable to complete my second task assigned to me by my brother and trainer. Aaargh, its getting on my nerves now!...I just couldnt cross the swimming pool by only moving my legs and with my face in the water completely and eyes open. The swimming pool is so big...i just couldnt reach the other end. Inface i am just able to swim till the half of the pool. After reaching the half of the pool, its is completely impossible for me to hold my breath.

Brother says it will take time...keep swimming and keep building the stamina..and Godwilling you will do it!...Yeah but i know its easier said than done.

Uraguain refree spoiled the match by giving 3 red cards. Frenzy all over the stadium, it was unbelievable to see a game where one team was with 9 and other with 10 players. USA deserved a win , the way they played with 9 men against Italian 10 men, it seemed like USA was playin with 10 and italian with 9. It ended 1-1, but a big pat on the back of USA, they really did well by drawing against the mighty Italians.

Guess what? , If italy draw with Czech and Ghana beat USA...it will be Italy vs Brazil in the next round. What an amazing prospect!!!!!

Imagine that you are working over a perfectly secure network with nobody in the middle, no key loggers, sniffers or any other sort of spyware over the local workstation or in the communication channel. Can you be sure that no information will be exposed?

Think again. Snooping at the digital level is not the only way to sniff at computing activity. The sound that your fingers make while touching the keyboard, emissions from your monitor and the noise from your printer, CPU and hard disk can be used to find out what you are doing at your PC.

The amazing technology which makes this possible is called Acoustic Cryptanalysis in which computation sounds during input-output processes are analysed. Generally, such attacks are called side channel attacks, as they exploit seemingly secure systems for unintentional interesting leakages. Recall how people can recognise on the phone which number is pressed by differentiating the individual sounds. In a similar way, when we punch in particular words using the keyboard, a distinct sound pattern is generated because each key has a distinct sound attached to it which can be analysed. If repeated probes are possible, the well-established algorithms of machine learning and statistical methods can be applied to correctly reproduce up to 90 per cent of the typed text.

Asonov and Agrawal are credited with experimentally showing how this works and later on other researches followed up on their work, enhancing the techniques and methodologies. Let us take a brief look at how this works.

To a human ear, each key sounds the same. But when their direct frequency spectrum recording is examined using a simple PC microphone, several subtle distinguishing features are discovered. Notably, there are two distinctive peaks in the keyboard sound spectrum.

The first one comes at the time of the push, called "push peak", and the second at the time of key release, known as "release peak". These readings, called features, are then normalised between 0 and 1 so that they may be used as input data for a neural network which records the sound differences with continuous inputs, say, pressing each key 100 times as sample training data.

Experimentation showed that touch peak was best suited to show the vulnerability of keyboards. Once the neural network is trained with keys and their corresponding features, it can successfully detect typed input to the tune of more than 90 per cent, much on the lines of known plain text cryptographic attack.

This is not only true in the case of normal PCs but also for notebooks, ATM machines and telephone pads, which means PINs and other identification information can also be sniffed by simple and inexpensive acoustic cryptanalysis that requires just a mike and a programmed application.

Clashes in Germany after Germany kicks out Poland!

Germany is alive and kicking, all they needed was to win the game to go through the next round. They tried and tried and tried and eventually got their just reward. Neuville scoring in injury time which leaves poland almost out of the world cup.

More than 300 people are in police custody after a World Cup match between Germany and Poland sparked clashes. Violence flared ahead of the game in Dortmund, which Germany won 1-0 and organisers had long identified as a high-risk fixture. About half of those arrested were German and half Polish, police said, with a handful of Dutch also held.They include some 70 known hooligans arrested earlier in the day with the help of Polish police.All those arrested will be held for up to 24 hours, and then may face police charges.

German police spokeswoman Saskia Schneider told the BBC officers were initially sent to the Alter Markt to deal with troublemakers."It started when the police were about to arrest a number of violent hooligans in the city centre. This situation led to attacks on the police," she said.

German and Polish hooligans have a history of violence
"Then it spilled over and different fan groups started attacking each other."

About 120 fans threw bottles and chairs at police. Officers were then seen chasing some fans through the main square, the Hansa-Platz. Earlier, liaison between German and Polish officers had led to dozens of arrests.

Polish police captain Rafal Wasaik said: "We have arrested people who we believed could cause trouble. They were recognised by my Polish colleagues."

Germany , my love has played outstanding football in the first game, they played truly attacking football. Goals from Lahm and Frings made the day for Germany.

Cech also played one heck of the game. They slaughtered USA 3-0 . Rosicky's goal was awesome. They are a team to reckon in the world cup and will go far.

Italy played attacking football which is not their traditional way. However i like the new look of their team with Luca Toni and Giolardino taking the role of Del Piero and Christian Vieri. Italy's defence was shaky at times with no Maldini in the back. They surely need him back.

Germany's WC Ball Unique

The World Cup ball being used in Germany 2006 is different from the English Premier League ball, England Training ball and Kids soccer ball.

The WC ball when passed through the wind tunnel started moving sideways when a force on the ball started to get decreased, so as the player hit the ball , firstly the ball will go straight (if no bend is applied by the player himself) and then as the force decreases on the ball, the ball will itself bend creating a lot of trouble for the goal keeper to judge the trajectory/line of motion of the ball.

The English Premier League and England Training ball dint bend much when passed through the wind tunnel, however the kids soccer ball as expected bent alot.

So in germany 2006, expect some great goals. You have already seen some long range efforts in the goal and that too if you look closely , the ball stated to go in a curved trajectory after going straight and beating the goalie comfortably.

Torsten Frings shot in the match Germany vs Costa Rica, Thomas Rosicky shot in the match Cech rep. vs USA, Andre Pirlo shot in the match Italy vs Ghana, Cahill shot in the match Australia vs Japan.

I wonder how many more to come! Great World cup so far!

Crossed 5th line!

I managed to cross 5th line in the swimming pool. I am learning swimming these days, go once in a week though because of the timing constraints. The swimming pool of Aga Khan Sports Complex is quite big not too deep though. One pool is of 4 and a half feet and the other pool is 6 feet but a very wide pool. The first step assigned by the trainer and my brother (cool swimmer MashaAllah) to me was to move the feet straigt in the water for 5 mins which i did after some time...infact 10 mins i reached easily after two three sessions of swimming. Now the second step assigned to me was to cross the entire pool by moving just the legs , not to make use of hands and keep the eyes open in the water. The pool is 20-25 meters long (lenght wise) and is divided with 8 lines (drawn at the bottom) with each two lines 2.2-2.5 meters apart. I first at the start was able to cross only 7 meters (3 lines) but however i kept tryin and tryin and managed to cross the 5th line. However i couldnt stop the breath after that, i tried hard but couldnt cross the 6th. The elusive other end of the pool always waited for me. God willing i will cross that next time.

However one thing i find quite unusual there, during the timings of men, women/girls can stay around the pool (not in the pool) and can do anything but during the timings of women, no man, no kids are allowed. I mean why girls/women are allowed to stay outside the pool during the timing of men?, they keep distracting us! :D...frankly it becomes a lot harder to swim then! :P

It was a great feeling to see something like that because the ASA Security Device of Cisco is used in only one organization in Karachi. Arsenal 2nd goal keeper let the English team down.

Ronaldinho couldnt score.

Belleti who never scored for some 40 odd matches scored in the Final of UEFA champions league.

Barca deserved the victory. Arsenal did well with 10 men but it was too big a task to contain barcelona for so long.

High salaries reversing brain drain in India

NEW DELHI: Talent hunters from the big global names in business and finance, who regularly scout India's top business schools, are suddenly finding themselves competing with local companies, ready to match the top dollar salaries.

On March 13, Gaurav Agarwal, a student at the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) at Bangalore, found himself surrounded by television cameras after it was announced that the British investment banker, Barclays Capital, had offered him an annual salary of 193,000 US
dollars. It was a record of sorts but one which lasted barely three weeks.

The Hyderabad-based Indian School of Business (ISB) stated on April 5 that one of its graduates had been offered a salary of 223,800 dollars by an Indian firm. Three other students from the same institution had received job offers each exceeding 200,000 dollars. Spokesman at the ISB refused to disclose the names of either the students or their potential employers to maintain confidentiality.

"What was especially surprising was the fact that the highest salary in US dollars was offered by an Indian technology company with international operations," Ajit Rangnekar, deputy dean of the ISB, told IPS. "It is significant that Indian companies are today willing to pay global salaries to talented young graduates so as to be able to compete effectively in the world market - that's the big message," Rangnekar said.

Can roads be the measure of progress?

Karachi is going through Operation Roadstorms where old roads are ripped off and new roads are being built. Plus new fly-overs, overhead bridges and underpasses are being built. The status of Karachi right now is nothing different then a partially demolished city with rubble and debry is spread everywhere because of the old roads. Instead of doing this work serially where they would have replaced an old road with a new one and then building the bridge elsewhere, they have started the work in parallel which no doubt will take less time then serial one but at the same time there is more problem for the karachites because almost every road is ripped off so traffic jams are common, even the service roads are not capable of handling too much traffic.

However i was thinking that whenever any goverment in Pakistan has got power there first preference is the roads ?...Why?..I still dont have any idea why the measure of progress of a Pakistani goverment are roads. Maybe because people can see that goverment is working for their benefit?..but still the country is there where it was before building the road...I dont think roads are the measure of progress, they should start thinking about the powerty and education problem first!.

Yes i went to PASHA (Pakistan Software House Association) Job Fair today. There were workshops being held along with Job Fair. It was organized in Marriot Hotel. I went with my friend Whiz. There were all undergraduates, graduates and professional people there, all looking for a job in the job fair. When i went inside the Marriot, i saw daughter of Rahat Kazmi first sitting on the desk before the entrance of Workshop, she was not looking that well as she looks on tv. Well then i went inside the fair and dropped my CV at most of the companies desk. The fair had small number of companies of my interest as all the companies were software related (PASHA organizer) and since I am a Networking and Communications related guy being a computer engineer (Godwilling at the end of this year), i dropped my CVs at mostly in computing and communications type companies. Some of the companies queried me about my final year project which is communications related, so it went that way in the fair. I also met Zunaira Durrani (Communications Specialist Manager at Telenor Pakistan and Editor of Spider Magazine). Asked her some communication related question which she replied cordially.

GEO (Pakistani News Channel) was also there at PASHA Job Fair. They were taking auditions from public, checking out whether they can get a good anchor, a host for talk show and other IT related people. I gave my audtion as well. I was interested in hosting a show so i acted like Hamid Meer (holds Capital Talk, a famous current affair related show) on camera and inivited some political leaders to my show :). They told me they will talk to me on phone if i come out with flying colours ...guess dont know what happens now :S...After the audition,they took my interview then on camera, the interview girl was so gorgeous ...sigh..anyways i then moved on and with my friends enjoyed the fair, the companies, the food, the people :P..hehe..

Let see what happens now, still this fair i think was not for me, since i have 6 months still to graduate..but yeah for company exposure it was good. Keeping my fingers crossed for geo as well, i think they need some cool guys ;)...

Installing Visual Studio 2005 and getting the error when the setup is being loaded from the CD into the PC at Suite Integration Toolkit. I tried it from another set of CDs and it came again exactly at the same instant. What to do now....twice the error came at exactly same spot from different sets of installation CD's...i think it must be a windows problem rather then a hardware problem..but still its a wierd situation...

Barcelona through to the final of Champions League!. Yes, they have beaten Milan 1-0 on aggregate. They will be facing arsenal in the finals. AC Milan vs Barcelona would have been a dream final but it dint turn out that way, they met up in the semis through the draws. :(. Anyways, arsenal have a tough job ahead of them and i doubt if they can beat Barcelona. Go barca go! :)

I watched James Bond "The world is not enough" and i loved it. Its the best of the bond movies and lies somewhere on the level with "From Russia with love" and "For your eyes only" which are the two best bond movies. The cast is superb as well with Denise Richards as the Bond Girl. However the new Bond Movie soon to arrive in 2006/2007 is "Casino Royale" which doesnt include Pierce Brosnan as the bond. I think Pierce Bronsnan was the best James Bond along with Roger Moore and Sean Connery. Plus no Desmon Llewyn which is known as Q, the scientist which gives Bond all sorts of gadgets. because of his death. However M and R will be there.

The story line of "The world is not enough" is perfect and i recommend you should watch it. Its 5,6 years old movie but if you watch it with great attention, you will love it.

Yeah..It went perfectly well.

At 12:00 in the night, my friends Whiz and Yahya came to my house and wished me.

We went out and enjoyed ourselves with rolls and juice.

At 1:30 i returned to house and replied some sms messages and online messages.

Than i slept.

Woke up at 8 in the morning. Got dressed up and went to university.

Girls celebrated the Pink Day today. :)

My bestest friends wore maroon clothes today! :).

I took some sweets to the university.

Photosession took place.

My friends took me to take the treat.

What will happen tomorrow???

Tomorrow 19th April, the day i came to this world. On that day when i was born, strike was observerd in Karachi. Last 3 Years in university, clashes have been observed on 19th April. Two really sucking political parties which has destroyed most of the top level universities reputation, fight in the same month April each year and to be precise on 19th . I dont know why :S...this is a coincidence i think.

I have been bringing something to eat in universtiy for the class each year except the last year.Last birthday was a memorable one for me althought i did nothing in that. My friends Whiz, Razz, Gul,Rabia arranged the cake for me. Red Day was also celebrated by my class on that day. All girls of my class were dressed in red ;). My really good friends Whiz, Razz,Ovais also dressed themselves in Red ;). When you classmates do that for you, it means you have got special friends :). Thankfully i have some by the grace of Almighty :).

Lets see what happens tomorrow. Keeping my fingers crossed. Hopefully no clash tomorrow. I dont know what i will be taking tomorrow. Godwilling something i will take for them :).

My first swim!

I went with my friends Whiz ,Yahya and Kashif on sunday morning to Paragon Swimming Club. Me and Yahya dint know how to swim in water. Wherelse whiz and kashif had some experience. We reached there at 3 in hot conditions, got our swimming gears on and dived in the water. Whiz and Kashif boy started swimming as they dived in water. Me and Yahya knew nothing about it so we started training. Held the bar and learned to move the feet in water, then we kept out faces under water as long as we can without breathing of course (thats the most toughest part). Anyways that we came across as well. Yahya learned more quicklier than me. I kept trying how to keep my face in the water and how to move the feet in the water..tried..tried ..tried and eventually i learned. I started to kept my face as long as i can in water and moved the feets correctly. We all played in water for 2 hours and then our time got over and we came out, took a bath again and then went to food centre for Briyani as we were all very hungry after the swim.

Swimming is a great exercise. It is the only exercise where your every muscle is doing some work as compared to those gym exercises. I felt really good because swimming is an art and to learn something new is quite a good feeling.

Why its sick man...why they are not vigilant enough to stop the bombers from carrying out their desired plans.

I watched an interview of an FBI guy who said that to be in FBI , you need to be really good in Maths and Science. Now that explains why FBI is so vigilant, alert and ahead of the criminals. Plus FBI hires the criminals (who are expert in something) which they have caught over the years to work for them so that they keep learning the new ways. e.g Catch me if you can. Remember what FBI does after catching Leonardo Di Caprio, hired him after giving him some punishment.

Why dont Pakistani Intelligence do soemthing like this. Involve criminals (which are caught obviously) with them , motivate them to work for them , learn skills from them and eventually they will keep track of all the moves any expert free criminal will be performing ...and secondly they need to keep an eye on all the non-registered people (those who came from abroad but have not registered in Pakistan), its of biggest concern now.

Low Efficiency

Considering you have 20 processors performing execution of 20% code, effeciency (output/input) turns out to be only 4.8%. Now doesnt it sound quite useless ?...4.8 only with 20 processors..doh!...I thought the same as well but it is right. The more the processors are and the less the code is, the less the each processor will have to work and the more it will remain idle so efficiency is low.

Final Destination 3

I first downloaded Final Destination 3 but to my suprise it turned out to be 9/11 Documentary. It was around 500MB download. Someone shared it in Limewire with a name of Final Destination 3..doh...Anyway i downloaded it again...846 MB this time...for the first time a roller coaster has been shot getting accidented. The cast is different from the previous 1 and 2 version. FD 1 was great, 2 was poor and i watched half of 3 ..and till now i like it.

Google.com has autosave working in Gmail.com when one is writing a new post which is really good but its not at blogger.com because when you write a new post and when you think you have written a good post lights go off! which really kicks the life out of the person.

Blogger.com was blocked by Pakistan Telecommunication Authority since 27 Feb at least and as a consequence many bloggers couldnt upload their blogs. This explains and answers all the queries of my blogger friends who just couldnt see any of the blogs from Pakistan being uploaded for 10 days. Literally PTA needs some bashing as they blocked the entire blogger.com just to block some blogs containing cartoons of Holy Prophet (P.B.U.H). They should have blocked some sites but they blocked the entire blogger.com domain.

Many teenage and adult groups one will find standing in the corner of the street, near the cigarette shop, in a cafe, near some institution doing nothing other than chatting, bluffing, staring girls and smoking and unfortunately most of them are students who waste their critical times doing nothing. The problem is not get-togethers but a get-together which has no finishing boundary. The prime ingredient of these get-togethers are cigarettes. You will hardly see any group of guys who dont smoke. They keep smoking, chatting, smoking,chatting , smoking..... and they end up gaining nothing. Everyone knows cigarette is injurious to health but still people are there who smoke. So if they dont love themselves how can they love others? If they can't protect themselves how can they protect others. Many teenagers look on the elder groups in the neighbourhoods and start following their styles and make similar groups and inherit same habits. In Pakistan mostly these groups are of boys. These sorta meetings on the corner of the streets, cafe's, apartment basements, shops are diverting our generation astray. Mostly the idea of these sorta meeting is to kill the time.

Temperature of the world is rising constantly, ice in the north is constantly melting and yet we cannot do anything. Industrialization has no doubt given a lot of boons to mankind but its effect to atmosphere is indirectly effecting the human cycle. Industries are necessary but fresh air and clean water is more than necessary but in today's world its hard to create a balance b/w them. Taking examples of United States which has a large number of industries are the biggest culprit in warming up the world. China is not lagging behind either and same is the case with India. We know that industries are affecting the environment and the temperature in the north is rising, so what can we do...scientists are still researching on it and they will keep on doing it but the question remains unaswered that how to reduce global warming and keep the beings safe from its effects.

Cartoon Controversy and MMA!

MMA claims to be an Islamic Political Party inside Pakistan but there agenda is a different one. They are using religion as a tool to prevail in Pakistan. They are neither following the preachings of Holy Prophet (P.B.U.H) nor they are working in favor of Pakistan. Just one example, a women threw thrash on Holy Prophet (P.B.U.H) everyday but Holy Prophet (P.B.U.H) never said a word to her and when one day women dint come out to perform her same act, Holy Prophet (P.B.U.H) found out that she was ill ,went to her house and gave her blessings. He did nothing except forgiving her.

But what the MMA is doing today ???..Now after the cartoon controversy, the acts performed by them on the roads burning other people's car, throwing stones on government buildings...Are they islamic? are they the same acts that would have been performed by Holy Prophet (P.B.U.H) ? .MMA claims this and that but these are simple and very obvious examples that their desire is "Power" and for that they are ever-willing to infuse people with the spirit of religion and bring them under their flag.

MMA's response to cartoon controversy : burning car's , destroying governemnt buildings and then a strike which really gives an struggling country like Pakistan a huge setback. Why cant these MMA leaders realize that those who made the cartoon are not suffering any loss, its their own fellow countrymen and their country which is suffering.

Acts of Denmark Newspapers should be condemned but through a proper channel. Danish products should be rejected and EU should be nipped in the bud for their so-called "Freedom of Expression" and Danish authorities should apologize the entire Muslim nation immediately.

There are many algorithms and techniques used for this. Currently i am searching for Radix-4 FFT. After the programming of FFT algorithm in Verilog i have to dump it in IC so that FFT Processor is made. Tada...

11 Guys and A Pizza Place!

Well today after the university me and my 10 other friends went to Pizza Express. We already have gone a lot at Pizza Hut and other big places ..so for a change of taste we went to Pizza Express. However we have been there once too a day before today. Last time it was my other friend who was giving the treat for his result and today i gave the treat. So, we ordered 4 Large Pizzas and 2 regular ones along with 4 pitchers of drink. We tasted every flavor (almost) of the pizza express. Me and all my friends are pizza freaks and we love Pizza Hut but Pizza Express is good too. Its difficult if you are a Pizza Hut fan that any other franchize will impress you but Pizza Express is good. Papa John's another franchize in Pakistan is good too, but i dont like another one Dominos...i dont know why...

Six flavors we ate today:
Mexicana, Arabian hot, Chicken Alsase, Chicken Tandoori, Point Fiesta, Mushroom...

All the pizzas are good but in general our group dint like Arabian Hot..although name sounds it might be rocking but its not the case in reality :)...

Our group loved Point Fiesta and the other ones....

So if you are going on a party , try Pizza Express..although there is no replacement of Pizza hut :).

In the end, i paid the bill :D..intrested in it ?..okay take a wild guess..lets see who is closer..

National Stadium Karachi

The people in our country just need an opportunity and they will do "full time tafreeh" in it. If you are going to watch the match [Pak. vs India] this time around on 19th then if you encounter the following then dont get irritated.

1. If you are girl, forget the ball in the stadium, the whole stand has eyes on you.
2. If you are a guy, then you will listen sounds like "oye neechay bhet, jaldi bheto bhai, i can't see sit down :@"
3. During the match, you will be greeted with bottles from the people sitting at the back. This is so much fun especially if you are sitting at the back and see other's throwing empty bottles on people sitting in the front of the stand. The one who gets hit look backwards to find out who threw the bottle . its like "boojho tu janay " :D
4. The stadium has a protective sheet of al. b/w two stands and yet people are able to exchange cigrettes through them. I saw a guy in the National Stadium's Special Enclosure(PCB gives special passes to the people of this vary enclosure) thew a cigerette to our stand.
5. During the game, you will be meeting so many people fed up with their lives smoking during the whole match and their smokes will rub salt into your wounds especially if you hate smoking.
6. Ancient bathrooms :D
7. In the end you will face every type of "chichorapan" (chutzpah). You might be having some water bath with some eggheads throwing water on people. Getting some hits from wrapped 4 & 6 banner.

All this makes it a day to remember.

A dude actually made use of MSN TV (previously known as Web tV) to run linux on it. Requirements are Chipset - Intel 830 mobile chipset. (Low power) Cpu - Mobile Celeron 733mhz 256kb cache Ram - 128Mb Ram Flash - 64mb sans compact flash card Network - 100mbit intel pro.Usb x 2 ports Modem Serial (onboard no connector) IR - keyboard / remote.

The serial interface loads Linux and then one can use MSN TV to make use of its services. The guy not only ran the Linux but also made a cluster.

The time i received my marksheet became the priceless moment of my life till today. By the grace of Almighty I secured second position in my department and first in the boys. I was pleased to see the joy in my parents eyes :)...after the result i called them at home and told them about the result and when i reached home, mom and dad huged me...it was one of the most priceless moment.

Da Vinci Movie is going to be released soon and for all those who dont know about the cast. Here it is. Robert Langdon will be Tom Hanks. However i thought Harrison Ford will suit it but i think Tom Hanks will be a fine choice. However Sophie Neveu is Audrey Tautou, and guess who is Silas, Paul Betanny (The Beautiful Mind).

Da Vinci Code is a must read. Once i started reading it, it changed my imagination altogether. I was overwhelmed by the amount of lore in it.
Such as the reason of Mona Lisa smile..its androgynous nature due to formation from Sexual Gods Amon and Isis. Virtuvian man, PHI the Divine Ratio and many other interesting facts. Believing or non-beliving on the vatican and priory and line of Christ type affairs is a different thing altogether i am not going into that but the way Dan Brown has presented all this, no wonder why 18 million copies of this book have been sold.

Google is working on a project to create its own global internet protocol (IP) network, a private alternative to the internet controlled by the search giant, according to sources who are in commercial negotiation with the company.

Holy Prophet (P.B.U.H) and The Danish Newspaper

Danish newspaper "Jaylland-Posten" published cartoons depicting Holy Prophet (P.B.U.H) which obviously infuriated the Muslim World. This sends a message of contempt towards muslims. I am not going to post pictures here but i can post the reaction of some countries.

Arab News reported: "Muslims in Saudi Arabia denounced Danish and Norwegian newspapers for publishing cartoons ridiculing and insulting Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) and called on Islamic governments take action against such hostile campaigns."

KUWAIT (Agencies): "The State of Kuwait strongly condemns and denounces a series of items, in Danish newspapers, which were deemed humiliating to the personality of Prophet Mohammad (PBUH), an authoritative Foreign Ministry official said Friday."

Morocco condemned on the publication of satirical cartoons on Prophet Mohammed in a Danish newspaper, regretting it came to provoke Muslim's feelings, said a release of the Moroccan Supreme Council of Ulemas.

Same thing happening in Pakistan and other Muslim countries. This act of Danish newspaper has not only shown the ill will towards muslims but also Danish esteem and pride has fallen from the zenith to the nadir in the Muslim world.

Final Year Project Selected!

Phew..finally me and my group selected the final year project. Since it is done once is a life time and since its your last project in graduation therefore everyone want to do something that is being currently used in market keeping in mind your job prospects also depend a lot on your final year project. So selection is a big issue and it takes time.

My project is titled " Convergence of PSTN and IP Telephony". This project is related to networking communications. What we will be doing is implementing the protocols that link the telephone exchanges through the gateway to the IP network through the devices and also implementing both the PSTN and IP Networks. Had to select the final year optional subject , final year project (the search is still on) , had to do some post Eid work, attend 4 marriages on 4 consecutive days..phew..still 2 left to attend..So couldnt get the time to blog. However my search for Final Year project is still on..running around here and there.....looking for a good one.

The smell of the sun and fresh cut grass. Mayfair bubble gum. A POLKA ice cream pop cone on a warm summer night,
Wait......Watching Weekday 5pm evening or Saturday Morning cartoons... short commercials, The Tom and Jerry, He-Man, Captain Caveman, Waltron, Walligator, Danger Mouse and Pink Panther.
Staying up late for Night Rider, Air Wolf or Power of Methew Star.
Watching nice Urdu Plays like Un Kahi, Tanhaiyaan, Sunehray Din, Aangan Tera.
When around the corner seemed far away, and going into down town or Liberty Market seemed like going somewhere.
A million mosquito bites, wasp and bee stings.
Sticky fingers.
Walking to school, no matter what the weather.
Running till you were out of breath. Ringing doorbells for no reason. The old ill-kept house down the street being haunted.
Laughing so hard that your stomach hurt. Jumping on the bed. Pillow fights. Climbing trees, building igloos Ice Lolies out of tiny amounts of snow.
Spinning around, getting dizzy and falling down was cause for the giggles.
Being tired from playing...

Remember that?

The worst embarrassment was being picked last for a team.

You knew everyone in your street - and so did your parents!
It wasn't odd to have two or three "best" friends.
You didn't sleep a wink on EiD Chaand Raat.
When 100 Rs. was decent pocket money.
When you'd get both a coke and a slims for 5 Rs.
When nearly everyone's mum was at home when the kids got there from School.
When dad was better than superman!
When it was considered a great privilege to be taken out to dinner at real restaurant with your parents. When being sent to the head's office was nothing compared to the fate that awaited a misbehaving student at home.
Basically, we were in fear for our lives, but it wasn't because of drive-by shootings, drugs, gangs, etc. Our parents and grandparents were a much bigger threat!
And some of us are still afraid of them!!!
Didn't that feel good?
Just to go back and say, Yeah, I remember that!

Remember when....

Decisions were made by going "eeny- meeny-miney-mo."
"Race issue" meant arguing about who ran the fastest.
Money issues were handled by whoever was the banker in "Monopoly".
The worst thing you could catch from other person was germs.
Having a weapon in school, meant being caught with a catapult.
Nobody was prettier than your Mum.
Scrapes and bruises were kissed and made better.
Taking drugs meant orange-flavoured chewable aspirin.
Ice cream was considered a basic food group.
Getting a foot of snow was a dream come true.
Abilities were discovered because of a "double-dare".
Older siblings were the worst tormentors, but also the fiercest protectors. When did life become SO complicated!!! wahetever happened to times when having rubbers and pencils made us feel
rich!

If you can remember most or all of these, then you have LIVED!

Well guys yesterday was pretty much an amazing day for me. It all started when i left Karachi Shipyard round about about 2:30 with my friend Sanjeev (we both doing iternship there). Actually i had to attend a meeting of IEE at Avari Towers with my friend Whiz who is doing internship at State Bank these days. So i left Sanjeev in the bus and went into State Bank to meet Whiz. It was an amazing atmosphere there. The IT department is superb. I met some of my university fellows there. Whiz took me to their server room ..it was amazing...i saw the server room of that scale first time in my life. That network was connecting all the branches of State Bank within Pakistan. Ok..enough of this..then me and Whiz went to Avari Towers for our meeting. Whiz went to the hall. Our Karachi head told me to accompany our meeting guest. I went to the main entrance and found the Vice Chancellor of our University Engr. Abul Kalam. I took him downstairs to the meeting hall. But some of the people in the meeting were late because of the traffic jam in the city. So the meeting had to be delayed. I went back to the Avari Hotel reception to confirm that any guest that come there should be directed to the Wood Pecker lounge where our meeting is taking place. Ok as soon as i did that...my eyes suddenly moved to the entrance and i saw Pakistan's Cricketing Legend Wasim Akram. I couldnt believe at the first instant that it was wasim but i said to myself .."yeah man its wasim" the cricketer who has done so much for your country is right before you....Ok i decided i will talk to him...I went forward and shook hands with him. He was probably coming from Tennis Court. I requested if i can take a picture of him. He said "Yes". I asked him whether he will come on ESPN or not and he said "haan aaonga". He and I went inside the hotel and there i gave my cell phone to the reception guy . I told him to take the pic and he took it. Too bad the pic was a blurred one ...he was a bit far and he also moved the camera while the pic was being taken.but i was too much delighted to meet Wasim..Ok there was no time for the second one. So i said Wasim "thanks!" and left. The pic is still in my cell and will transfer the pic on my computer when i will get the device. So after that i went to attend the meeting...and after 15-30 mins..there came the snack time...there were Kabab's , Chicken & Cheese sandwiches, Samosas, Pastris and other snack stuff. Actually it was IEE who was financing it so we the meeting guys ate them like nuts :P ....Hmm..after another hour the meeting finished. Me and Whiz and some other mates of our university went to see the Tennis Court incase if we can meet Wasim again but lightining never strikes twice at the same place...so all of us left Avari to our houses. It was indeed a pleasant day . I came back home on Whiz's car which needed some water on the way back but all in all it was a one fine day! :)

Pakistan And Kalabagh Dam?

The only country you will find "some" people rioting against a Dam is Pakistan. Let me tell you the whole scenario. Pakistan's province Sindh is an urgent need of a dam so that the water obtained due to rain doesnt get wasted and can be used for a longer period time. Punjab is the province through which the water reaches to Sindh. So if excess rain takes place in Punjab, they have to open the gates of their dams so Sindh gets excess water which gets wasted. In sindh, rain doesnt take place so much whereas in Punjab it is the exact opposite of it. So the need of a dam arises for Sindh. Unfortunately when rain doesnt take place in Pakistan, Punjab sometimes dont give the due amount of water to Sindh due to which Sindh suffers...this is all due to personal gains of people because some stupid feudals have forgotten that its their country which comes first not their personal lives.

Now some uneducated people of Pakistan who dont know the immense importance of Dam are joining hands to stop the government from building the dam. Reasons, well there are many. firstly every party not in power wants their emphasis over the poor uneducated people. If the govenrment builds a dam which will help change those people lives because their bread and butter depends on agriculture will obviously increase the support for the government and those parties will lose their vote in those areas. Secondly, there are many parties who have not done anything for their own people but rather they take vote by buying the people or luring them. Most of the people in Sindh are uneducated and poor so they cannot differentiate b/w right and wrong so they can easily be led astray. So their magic spells will be useless if the dam gets shaped up. Thirdly they (protesters) claim that Punjab will store more water and will give less to Sindh if the dam is made. Now my reply to those suckers is that dammit for once think for the long run..if the dam is not built than Sindh will be a desert till 2010 ...forget your past enemities with Punjabis....its not the time to remember those...Punjabis are nothing by themselves neither Sindhis...Its because of Pakistan thats they both are present and by not building the dam Sindhis are not suffering (yeah they do) but its Pakistan who is suffering.

Yeah i even heard on the radio one @$$h*le protesting leader saying "If Kalabagh Dam is made , Pakistan will be broken like 1971"

Within myself i thought " If i found you , i will split your ________ into pieces"

VLSI -> Yes or No!

VLSI is Very Large Scale Integration and is one of the three optional courses we will have to choose from in the Final Year (other two are Artifical Intelligence and Internet Computing). It is basically related to ASIC (Application Specific Integrated Circuit). ASIC are IC's which perform particular operation and they have all the logic stored in them. This logic can be produced by two ways. Firstly by using Verilog and secondly by VHDL (obsolete). Programming in Verilog according to my final year seniors is an art to learn and intriguing to perform. VLSI is basically related to hardware type computer engineers who wants to work and play with IC's.You can develop any sort of IC's by developing your own logic and implementing it through Verilog. GSM technology can also be implemented through it so just giving an indication that IC's made using Verilog can be used in communications.

But i am kinda confused...the teacher who teaches VLSI is not satisfactory one according to my seniors....So whether I should take the course or not..i am in dillema regarding VLSI...it all depends on the time that is ticking slowly and slowly ....however i am also thinking about the other two courses as well Artificial intelligence (related to Process models and Robotics) and Internet computing (network security). Which one to choose?..its a tough time for all my university fellows...

Internship starts!

Well my university got some winter- internship offers and they sent me to Karachi Shipyard. Its at hour long drive from my house. First day, i dressed formally...went to take the bus...my friend Sanjeev was waiting for me at a point at least 25 mins away from my house...i was late in getting up so i messaged by friend you take off for the shipyard..i will join you ..[my friend also got the internship at Shipyard]. So i took the bus ...saw some never seen before industries on my way KESC, Mercedes Benz, Dockyard and many others. I was an hour after my friend reached there. At first i was wrongfully sent to the wrong location in Shipyard. There they told me to teach the students some Mechanical engineers stuff which made me shocked. I told them thats a mechanical engg. stuff ..i cant teach that and i thought within myself [i am here to learn...not to teach anyone..grrr]...I saw the letter that university gave me again and i saw the cheif name whom i had to meet and that made me realized i was at wrong place inside Karachi Shipyard. So i took the letter and fled away from there. I then searched for the cheif whose name was Sabir and eventually i found his office and infront of his office i found my friend Sanjeev who was waiting for me as well. He was there for at least 2 hours. We then together waited to see Mr. Sabir but he was busy in meeting. We waited and waited and together we waited at least 2 hours more and then we met ....wait wait we dint meet Mr. Sabir but we met Mr. Jabir...lol..dont think they are brothers...maybe they are..but me and sanjoo were totally shocked to see their names..Sabir and Jabir. Mr. Jabir is from a Top Brass from Navy. I will discuss his interview after some days...;) dont worry it was an exciting one. After a long hour meeting me and my friend went to the Computer House. Karachi Shipyard still maintains its record in files and not electronically i.e still living in historic ages. Most of the computers are old...i saw only some brand new computers.....Well they told me and my friend that there is some networking stuff to be done for which they might need our help and that will start from monday.....let see ...waiting for monday! :)

[My debut] Pakistan Vs England-->Karachi rocks!

Yes...i never watched a match before in the stadium but i made it history by watching the match live at National Stadium Karachi today b/w Pakistan and England. It was one heck of atmosphere guys. Well unfortunately no cameras, cell phone were allowed. So i left my cell at home otherwise i would have taken pictures and would have posted it on blog. Anyways back to the action!. Pakistan batted first and we wanted Afridi first up but it was not to be. All the time Pakistani team batted, we had loads of fun in the stands. I was at Waqar Hasan enclosure...Gee never heard that cricketer name before...anyways...it was fun all the way....I danced, errupted in joy, hit the bottle hard on chairs with the crowd....i dont keep my emotions inside me :D..so i kicked them all out today...the crowd went beserk on every English wicket, Pakistani six and four, we danced,danced and danced all the wayyy. However crowd did support English team as well. The crowd was a modern and educated cricketing one as you can expect in Karachi...being a metropolitan city....

But one thing really made the people of my row and the back row angry. There were two ppl in the row ahead of us who were constantly smoking. One was in his 50's and one was a young guy maybe in 20's..they were regularly smoking and their smoke was ripping our hearts. I was ..like most of the ppl in my row and the back was clearly pissed off by this...i told the guy to stop smoking but he continued. Well as the guy changed his seat we were all very pleased to see him leaving...and it was like "ab waapis nahi ana"....lol...but the uncle continued...and we had to absorb it....:(...

Back to action.....the crowd waited for Afridi's arrival ..and when he came, it was all fun mania...Afridi hit 2 sixes which made the crowd crazy....Well i missed them both..and my friends too....well when we went for prayers akmal and yousuf were playing...and when we came back from prayers afridi got run out...it was so disappointing to see the guy whom we waited so much to see...well i guess it was all luck :)...nothing else...Khair...Razzaq stole the show....he did what afridi would have done ...Hit 3 massive sixes...and took the score to 350

Lunch time , we ate Student's briyani...cost Rs. 50..the quality was not good..back to action....English team disappointed us....they dint bat well and match became one sided. Rana boy bowled superbly again. It was one heck of celebrations when wickets fell...We danced on the song " ay oooo ay oooo ay ooo aaa...aa lay aaa lay ooo" remember which song i am talking about ?..that world cup one sung by Strings.It was great fun guys. I dint meet any of my fellow bloggers there...hehehe thats a long shot because i hardly have seen any ..just know some.....yes we were all so happy and delighted for the Pakistani victory....Thank you Team Pakistan!

Its the name of the film which i watched yesterday night and its horror 100%...not for light hearted people...I bet if you watch it in night you wont sleep all night....its too much suspense, horror and thrill. The film gives a moral "Life is a gift, dont take it for granted!". If you loved the movie Phonebooth that was made in a phonebooth, you will definitely love this movie as well....its made in a washroom where two men are tied seperately. Actually what the theme is that the killer gets his victims and put them in a tricky situation where they have to save their lives either by taking other's life in process or going through pain and agony through which the victims can get killed too. The killer dont kill anyone yeah..actually the situation is such that the victim gets themselves killed in order to save their lives. I wont tell everything about the movie but i can tell about one victim of the killer.A women's mouth was covered with a trap (shown in the picture) that could blow up after a set time. The key to open the trap was in a stomache of an alive guy who was drowsing that time.Both were locked in a room. Women had only one option, to kill the guy with the knife and to get the key out so that she can open the trap that is fit on her mouth. So she had to kill the guy inorder to save herself. Isnt that creepy :S..its sure is...

i wont tell what happened to two guys that were in washroom tied seperately as the whole movie is sorrounded around them...so you guys better watch out this and make sure kids are kept away because that can go around their minds for a long time :).

Holy-Mania Starts Today!

Holy-Mania ..Yes thats actually Holiday-Mania. Today was the last practical and my papers are officially finished. I was not too much overjoyed as the pracs finished because the paper and pracs took 2 months to get finished and its damn too long. It was like every student wishing "Ab khatam hongay ..ab khatam hongay" and they keep going on and on and on and on....

So now as my papers are finished..will enjoy these days with my friends and will post about it.
